10 Easy Steps to Fascisim in America

As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such a twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air-however slight-lest we become unwilling victims of the darkness.

~Justice William O. Douglas~

  1. Invoking an external and internal threat
  2. Establishing secret prisons
  3. Developing a paramilitary force
  4. Surveiling ordinary citizens
  5. Infiltrating citizens' groups
  6. Arbitrarily detaining and releasing citizens
  7. Targeting key individuals
  8. Restricting the press
  9. Casting criticism as "espionage" and dissent as "treason"
  10. Subverting the rule of law
I find that at least 9 of these are to be true in Amerika today and that it is very possible that all 10 are. The only I am not dead sure about is number 8 because of the very fact that people like me and many others while not the actual press operated on the same medium. Cmon, whats another 6 months?

Not much to write on this one, it speaks for itself. Click the link, read the blurb then check the timeline. It is amazing to see that all the US has needed since we entered Iraq is "six more months" oddly enough, the first time this was uttered was in February of 2003, and it has been repeated time and time again by the people in power right up to August 2007.

Quote of the Year

I lifted this whole post from Francois Tremblay (Check Your Premises) but it needs to be spread as much as it can.

Here is a man who is obviously insane, and yet he has a column in a newspaper?

ONE MONTH from The Anniversary, I’m thinking another 9/11 would help America.

What kind of a sick bastard would write such a thing?

A bastard so sick of how splintered we are politically - thanks mainly to our ineptitude in Iraq - that we have forgotten who the enemy is.

America’s fabric is pulling apart like a cheap sweater.

What would sew us back together?

Another 9/11 attack.

Please tell the paper exactly what you think of Stu Bykofsky. Here was my message:

I am writing to you about Stu Bykofsky, and his article at this URL:
http://www.philly.com/dailynews/columnists/stu_bykofsky/20070809_Stu_Bykofsky___To_save_America__we_need_another_9_11.html
Where he advocates the murder of thousands more Americans in the name of politics.

I find this article to be highly offensive, as any reasonable person would. I would think the only prudent thing for your paper to do is to fire this man who promotes terrorism in order to solve political problems, and is obviously not quite right in the head.
